| As many people probably already know that we are expecting a little one
soon. I'm in my 17th week of pregnancy. Thus far, it's been a hard
journey. The most surprising revelation that I'd come across is a
phenomenon that I shall call "pregnancy-amnesia". This strange
phenomenon is the purpose for my desire to record my experiences in
writing.
Throughout my pregnancy, when I've asked women about
their experiences, the answer almost always starts with "I didn't have
any problems during the pregnancy..very little morning sickness". Then,
they think about it. Sometimes a couple days, maybe a week later,
they'll get back to me and correct their stories. Even my own mother
insisted that she never had any illness or emotional shifts. I had to
go to my dad for the truth.
The past few months have been somewhat ..painful. The heartburn was a killer. I couldn't drink anything aside from water without feeling pain. Then there was the all day nausea,
which someone stupidly dubbed "morning sickness". My nausea was far
worse at night. I fought every night to keep myself from barfing my
brains out. Usually successful but on occasion not. An acquaintance
shared with us that her worst pregnancy event occurred when she had
simultaneously barfed and diarrheaed at the same time. Her poor husband
had to clean up the bathroom since she passed out on the floor. In my
head I thought surely she was exaggerating., My disbelief almost became
a reality. I'll try to refrain from extreme details, but while I was
sitting in the bathroom I understood the mechanism of how this could
have happened. Thank goodness she had mentioned this story. I fought so
hard to not barf while evacuating my bowels. I would have been caught
by surprise if I hadn't heard her story before.
I gotta say that my nausea isn't as bad as some, but I still felt like
the world was coming to an end. The nausea was the worst. Then there's
the gas. Nobody, I
mean nobody ever mentions the gas problems. People should be warned
about being downwind from a pregnant women. I've never fart or burped
so much in my entire life. It's embarrassing.
These were my big three. There were other things I'd gone through like
tiredness, emotional swings, coordination issues, and forgetfulness.
But these things were tolerable, not that bothersome compared to the
other three.
There's a lot more I want to write about, but that would make for an
extremely lengthy blog. Second major ultrasound exam coming up this
Friday. Will know from this appointment if it's going to be a boy or a
girl. | | |

| I was reading through Kit's comment about knowing when you've found
that right person. My old pastor, from back home, brought up an
interesting concept that I have come to agree with. It's not a perfect
concept so don't hesitate to post opposing opinions. He felt that God
didn't create only one person for each person. He felt that God created
many different compatibilities and perhaps one super perfect combination
for each of us. This was his way of explaining love triangles, divorce,
and adultery, but that's another subject. God might also have created a
system like this to teach us what it is truly important, how to give,
or even how to interact with each other. Perhaps then, not all
relationships are supposed to last.
Anyways, God will bring people together when the time is right for each
of them. So you might "know" that a certain person is right for you or
you might not, depending on if the timing or circumstances are correct.
Some couples might need more time then others to come to a conclusion,
of if they are meant to be. Whether it's because we are too caught-up
with ourselves, blind to see God's plan, disobedient to God's wishes,
or that we are misunderstanding the purposed of the relationship, you will know if you listen hard enough. | | |
| ATTENTION ALL BAR-B-QUE FAN'S
Ok all you ex-Austin residence and BBQ connoisseurs, Salt Lick will be openning a new location in LAS VEGAS!! The restuarant will be located at the Red Rock Casino/Resort. Sadly, it's not located on the main strip, about 13 miles away, but it's a little closer to my stomach. I'll have to make a special pilgrimage the next time I'm there. We shall see if it's just as good as the original local.

| My First Earthquake
Couldn't go to sleep last night. It's always difficult for me to go to
sleep when Kit is out of town. arg. I hadn't slept well after I got off
work, went out, came back. I was suffering from hallucinations from my
sleep deprivation. I wanted to sleep but my mind was playing tricks on
me. I kept thinking someone was breaking in. When I finally did fall
asleep, I kept having terrible nightmares. I thought that I was awaken
by an earthquake or the the house was possessed.
The first thing I did when I finally woke up was check the news. Minor earthquake struck Bay Area at 5am.
